Finally, 2222 gets a decent coffee house! * * * West of 360, the choices in coffee houses are very limited. Starbucks and Summer Moon. Or if you like, Summer Moon and Starbucks. I am unusual for a Yelper in that I really like Starbucks and I basically like Summer Moon. So I personally could live with this. But alternative independent coffee houses make places cool. They are fun places to work and fun places to have coffee. Coffee Shark is everything you could want in a coffee house. * * * 1) They do an excellent flat white. Now I have decided prejudices about flat whites. Even though Australia invented the flat white, I tend to not like Australian style flat whites. Bland, creamy and kind of tasteless. The Brits do a very bitter flat white that gets up and throws you around. I am of the British school all the way. A good flat white has to have a good espresso. And you do not drown the espresso in milk. You let the espresso do the talking. Coffee Shark makes a first rate espresso. And their flat white has an espresso that does a lot of talking. Thumbs up in my book. 2) They do a first rate pastrami sandwich. I could not tell you how good the base pastrami is. (I suspect Boar's Head. Don't get me started on Boar's Head.) But they CHAR the pastrami. Even bologna is amazing when it is charred. Once you char a pastrami, you can use any damm supermarket pastrami you want to. They serve it all on a high quality marble rye. This was a good honest sandwich. 3) The room is first rate. One of the dangers is an indy coffee house is appallingly awful art on the walls. Whoever curates their walls does a first rate job. The architect did a fine job on their space too. (The mall they are in is on a hill with action up the hill and down the hill with staircases connecting. The architect had a fun time with uplevel, downlevel and the staircases.) There are a zillion sockets for those of us who like to have sockets. (Sure batteries now last forever, but it is still nice to be able to recharge at will) The chairs are comfortable and stylish. The tables are good workspaces. This is first rate design for a coffee house. * * * All is not perfect in paradise. My wife had a falafel sandwich. Never mind, they forgot the hummus and vegetables on her sandwich. The concept is to take falafel that comes as a ball and put it between two slices of deli bread. There is a reason falafel goes in pita bread. It is not because pita bread is wonderful. (Its not unless the baker is really really good) You put it in pita bread because the falafel is spherical and it will roll out of anything that does not have a pocket. My wife's falafel sandwich was several balls precariously balanced on a small slice of deli bread with another slice of deli bread even more precariously balanced on top of that. Jenga with ping pong balls. Worse - the missing hummus in theory would be the glue that bound the falafel balls to the bread. No hummus and the bottom piece of bread becomes a pool table. My wife ate her sandwich - which was unimpressive. Getting it to her mouth in one piece had comedy aspects. * * * Still overall, this is a first rate place. Good decor, good workspace, outstanding coffee and food that is mostly pretty good. You can get draft beer here too if that matters to you. (I am not a big fan of coffee by day and beer by night, But there are people who love that.) The place draws a good crowd of cool people - And it should. It is basically a cool place. I would happily come here again. If you order falafel, bring something nice and sticky with you Like peanut butter, To make your sandwich more manageable.

Coffee shark is a peaceful oasis tucked in an upscale strip mall. The sandwiches are outstanding and the coffee is great. They have a large breakfast menu of savory AND sweet options. The indoor seating is plentiful and comfortable. The outdoor seating is limited to picnic tables and, sadly, zero outlets for charging laptops. The turkey club sandwich was picturesque and packed a lot of flavor.

I love this place. I think they have the best mocha and bagels. The vibe is great. Lots of seating options

This is such a cute coffee shop - they really lean into the "shark" aesthetic with lots of shark artwork and decor. It's pretty roomy inside, and it looked like there were outside tables too. This would be a great place to sit and work/hang out! They serve coffee and beer on tap - since I visited in the morning I got coffee, but they had a whole selection of beers too. Based on their menu they can make any of the basic coffees and they have many different flavors to customize them. I got a classic iced vanilla latte and thought it was good - not very sweet, but you can add additional sweeteners. It cost about $10 for two medium coffees so it was pretty reasonable price wise.

This is a nice quiet coffee shop. Mostly people are working on their laptops. They serve coffee, obviously, but they also have a small beer on tap selection. They have a breakfast menu, just quick type foods. Breakfast sandwich and breakfast tacos. I wish I took more pictures, but I didn't want to look like a dang tourist. You can't see it from 2222. It's up on a hill in a small shopping center. I actually drove past it and had to go the other entrance. Anyway. I got a small 12 ounce caramel latte, and the BLT breakfast sandwich. The latte was hot and fresh and was strong. Which is a good sign right? We want strong to get through this gloomy Tuesday morning. The BLT egg sandwich was good. There's a mixed spring greens small lettuce leaves and a crisp tomato. The egg I feel is like a pre-made egg. Not sure exactly. It's all on an English muffin. It was good. Filling enough for me. Will I be back, sure. They do have a small patio too. Probably dog friendly. Austin is pretty fur friendly

Local coffee shop that serves the best of both worlds, coffee & beer. I've tried a number of drinks here and they have consistently had quality coffee. This time I tried the Mexican mocha. It was well done IMO because it was a blast of cinnamon and cayenne that didn't linger after you drank it. Most Mexican chocolate flavors are so dainty it's not even worth it. If you're in the area and looking for a quiet space to work with a good drink, look no further than coffee shark

I ran into Coffee Shark for a quick pick me up during my lunch break and was pleasantly surprised. First of all, the place is huge. I don't think anyone would ever have trouble finding a seat and it seems like a nice quiet place to work for an afternoon. I appreciated the fact that they had a lot of flavor options. I decided to get a Vanilla Rose Iced Oat Milk Latte and it was so good. The flavor was subtle and it was perfectly brewed. The only reason I knock it down to 4 stars is because it's definitely on the pricier side. I would expect to pay minimum $7 for a latte when you go in. While it may not be an everyday stop, I would still go back for sure. COVID Precautions: Masks required for employees and customers.
